BIOGRAPHY
After graduating from Wolverhampton University, with an Honours Degree in Photography, Mark Preston moved to London, where he worked as a studio photographer. Gradually the focus of his worked moved from pure photography toward photomontage style illustrations and eventually, when he realised how much quicker and better it could be done using a computer rather than scissors and glue, to digital illustration. Much of his work still involves using his own photographs and painted textures, to keep the tactile feel that the non-computerised illustrations had. Over the past 10 years working in this medium Mark has illustrated countless books and worked on everything from packaging to magazines to greetings cards. Mark has also amassed a massive library of photographic images, both his own photographs, illustrations and stock photography. This is essential for the wide subject matter that his client briefs might cover and allows him to quickly put together concepts. Mark also has been working as a 3D illustrator for several years, under the name Aardvart, and has given him the opportunity to diversify into children’s books, magazines, packaging and adverts. Mark lives and works in Sussex, England with his family.
