JO EMPSON

BIOGRAPHY

Based in UK, Jo originally trained and worked as a professional designer for many years before following her true love of illustration. Jo's illustrations have a leaning towards expressing a stylized view of our natural world, trying to portray visually the vivid colours, life and energy of nature and the environment. Her illustrtions have rich colours, expressing mood through texture, movement and have a strong sense of shape and perspective using mixed media, combining line drawigs, vibrant acrylic textures and digital enhancing.

She enjoys the different creative disciplines of illustrating, editorial, advertising, educational and design projects especially when initiating ideas are part of the brief. At present as well as illustrating professionally for clients such as BBC, People Management, Coaching at Work, Radio TImes and Miles Kelly Publishing, she is studing for an MA Children's Book Illustration in Cambridge School of Art. In the near future Jo hopes to write and illustrate her own picture books.
Jo is also a Member of the Association of Illustrators.
